The Children’s Fountain at Woodruff Park in Columbus, GA is the result of a vision by a private donor with the desire for children of the community to have an entertaining place to play. The park, nestled along the Chattahoochee River, has become a destination where families not only cool off in the fountain, but also enjoy the stunning landscape of the area.

The concept originated in 2008, and became a reality during the summer of 2014. Local landscape architect Gary Gullatte of Gullatte & Associates developed the concept and designed the park. A key element of the water feature is the choreography of dancing water, color changing lights, and upbeat music to enhance the public experience. In combination with that, the Children’s Fountain blends into the existing environment by incorporating enormous boulders pulled from the Chattahoochee River and strategically placed around the water feature.

Roman Fountains equipment package includes 32 flush mount sequencing nozzle and LED light assemblies. A 2000 gallon water storage tank is located below grade and has its water continually monitored by a PH/ORP water treatment system. The fountain pumps, filters, and electrical controls are all assembled into a massive Roman Fountains series 5 direct burial vault.

Headwaters Construction led the way as the general contactor for this project, while Pfists Inc, installed the piping, conduit, and equipment. Gullatte & Associates stayed involved throughout the construction, dedication, and start-up adjustments to ensure the vision of the private donor and City of Columbus would be fulfilled. The project is a great success and we encourage all to visit the beautiful park.
