Thelma’s Garden outdoor water feature at the Mercer Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, located in Humble, TX, consists of three separate rain curtains installed within a beam. This feature creates clear streams of water which fall approximately 9’-0” into three single-level pools below. The three pools are connected by two sets to twin 3” equalization pipes, by installer. All of the displays are operated from a display/filter pump vault. Illumination for the fountain is provided by ten 250 watt freestanding submersible lights. The fountain has a one-stage wind compensation system which shuts the display down when wind is detected. The majority of the mechanical controls for the fountain are located in a RDP-2 Series direct-buried prefabricated fiberglass vault with a 5 HP display pump, a 75 SF cartridge filter, a 1/3 HP sump pump. The electrical controls are in a UL listed custom control panel with a dead front access door and includes pump and lighting controls, time clocks, one-stage wind compensation, and a water level control system.
